Walking the Walk.

So I've decided to get a bit more vocal about my thoughts.  I avoid talking politics, or my views on things, and will continue to do so, cause really we all have our own views and I respect what you believe just as I hope you do with me.  However there's one issue that generally flows into my artwork, sometimes into conversations, and is an issue that I think anyone reading this would agree with me about.  And that's STOPPING violence against women.  Kinda a no brainer... right?!

Mid-west living... in a NW town.

Over the past 6 and a half years of living in Port Townsend, I've been able to slowly find the other former flat landers through the years.  We celebrate our heritage of casseroles, football (GO PACK GO!), and the all around wonderfulness of being from that lovely section located in the middle of the country.  Then there are days when you friend becomes your enemy, it's only for one day usually but it's when your teams play against each other, and there is an agreement that your friendship is put on hold for the next 4 hours. Such as the picture below.

Let's get honest here...

Hello all!  I know I know I've been missing for awhile, I can explain really I can!  I've been down in the dumps a bit, not going to lie.  So many life changes hit me, just as I thought life was set how I wanted it.  It's been a hard one, and some days well it's just so easy to shut down and ignore, you just want to put that smile away for awhile, have a good cry, and throw a tantrum.  I won't go into great detail, but I have left my sweet little farm and live downtown.

Millbrook Ceramics

This summer I found the most lovely family selling ceramics at the Farmer's Market in Chimacum, the owners of Millbrook Cermamics.  Mama Sara was expecting her second daughter and radiated with that pregnant glow as they ran the market.  Todd the husband throws the wonderful basic cups and bowls and Sara emblessihes them with darling images.

I mean seriously, she paints Narwhal's on her mugs... how stinking cute is this?!

Routine

Ya know how sometimes life just hands you a big old bag of change when you least expect it?  Well that's been me the last month, with a life that changed very quickly on many levels, I found myself floundering a bit to find my new routine.  And realizing that my previous routines never actually worked anyhow.  So where to begin?

New Year... Knew Year!

Why hello everyone, how the heck are you?

Seriously I've missed ya'll!  And I know, I know, I haven't exactly been blogging.  Maybe I should add that to my new year's resolutions which are the following:

1. To be a lady who lunches

2. To have my most stylish year yet.

3. To kick ass.

Sugar & Spice!

Sugar and spice and everything nice... that's what these 3 amazing women are made of!  Won't you come join, Danielle Daniel, Juliette Crane, and Mindy Lacefield, for the most wonderful of retreats on June 5 through the 9th, in beautiful Port Townsend, Washington?!

Stress Mess?

As I laid in bed this morning, taking my quiet moment for just me.  I try and do this every morning as my house is a wee bit of chaos in the mornings, but heck whose isn't!  Anyhow, laying there my little morning mantra and drifting in and out, I did the worst thing you can do... started thinking about my schedule over the next few weeks.

The Lumber... jacks and jills!

Saturday evening was the opening of "Girls Chopping Wood" at AOT Gallery, and in keeping with this idea we asked everyone to come in their lumberjack apparel...

Featured artists Margie McDonald and Mare Tietjen opted for "lumberjack couture"... love it!
