Fantastical Fantoccini

It is my honor to announce our first retreat!  With my good buddies, Michael deMeng and Andrea Matus-deMeng.  This dynamic duo is going to provide us a ton of fun, laughter, craziness and chaos... Just the way we like it!

The Fantastical Fantoccini with

Michael deMeng and Andrea Matus-deMeng!

So…I’m sure you are wondering…go ahead say it: “What in the world is a fantoccini?” Well, basically a fantoccini is a puppet show which uses string or wire for movement. And now your next question is: “So why didn’t you call it the Fantastical Marionette Show?” Well, because, we needed some sizzle, some sense of the exotic, of the bizarre….because that is exactly what we are going to create, a mystical realm housed by stringed citizens.

Day One & Two:
The Stage- Andrea Matus deMeng

In this class you will create the theater stage. This will not be unlike an actual stage in that the scenery can be changed, moved, and adjusted. Layers of imagery will transform a small space into a world of depth and wonder. This will all be done using elements of painting drawing and collage

Day Three & Four:
The Marionettes – Michael deMeng

The second part of the class will involve the creation of the puppet people. You will create a fantastical cast of inhabitants for the theater you created. To do this you will modify discarded dolls, toys and found objects and transform them into wondrously strange stringed performers.
