Elyse Garling
Elyse Garling, a former Port Townsend resident who now resides in New York City, is truly coming into her own with her distinctive line of jewelry including stud earrings, rings, and cuff links. The line is inspired by her hometown and the Northwest, but has clear references to life in the big city. Her raw use of silver, coupled with semi-precious stones, appeals to the laid-back rock star and sophisticate in us all.
Garling's training took her to New York City over a decade ago where she began her formal studies at the New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. Garling decided at this time to pair her education in fashion with that of jewelry and began her journey with Swedish goldsmith Irene Pluntky-Goedecke.
Through her evolution as an artist and metal smith, Garling hopes to invite viewers and collectors of her work into this intensely personal exploration. As her eye becomes more refined and her hand hones its skill, she strives to engage further in merging the manmade and the natural worlds, forging them together in her own distinct artistry.
